I'm back . . .

Sorry for the 12-day gap in posting. I thnk I lost some days there do to writing the dissertation thingy. Going to Berlin on Thursday to meet up with fellow SARC composers (past and present) to do a little concert for the DAAD foundation. Looking forward to that. Angela will be traveling with me. So, we are looking forward to seeing Berlin and friends and catching up. I will try to blog the trip, but internet might be sparse -- will have to see . . .

Had a good time in Limerick meeting up with Flaithri Neff and recording the final work for my portfolio. The recording conditions weren't optimum, but we made it work. It's an interesting arrangement of sounds. Had time to catch up with my buddy Riana as well. She is finishing her PhD as well. We are both tired people it seems.

OK, now I must try to finish my stuff here on the dissertation front.

ciao

Going for a walk

I am already sick of writing . . . ooops!

Spring . . .

Ah . . . Spring arrives in Belfast. And I am in the room writing the dissertations. I have only completed one of nine chapters and I am already sick of it. At some point the brain just goes on automatic and I write senseless, truly senseless stuff. I offer first a photo from our back garden and then a photo of the room and the wonderful warm sunshine that is accompanying my writings.

Just finished the portfolio . . .

The final piece is done (score and electronics). Now I just gotta get the guy to play the thing!

Sonorities, et al

Sonorities festival on top of writing on top of composing . . . it's all coming to a head. The good news is that the electronics for the Pipe piece are done and the score is almost complete. Now, just to get the performer up to play it! On to other things, immediate feedback from my first chapter submission is very positive. So, the advisor says, "You should be able to knock this out pretty quickly!" Yeah, we will have to see . . .

Going to Berlin at the end of the month to present a work sponsored by the DAAD Foundation. This is a good thing . . . I have a few colleagues there (Gordon, Stefan, Ludger, etc.) and it will be nice to see them. Angela is travelling with me this time which is FUN!

Until then, write on!
