Winter in Texas

As some of you might be aware, Texas has been hit by a bit of a snow storm. Angela and I have been holding out here on Dad's ranch in Mason, Texas, frozen roads delaying our efforts to return to Chicago. It is the third day in the house and we are all getting a bit buggy: Dad, his wife Debbie, Angela, myself, and the two dogs, Duke and Theresa. One big happy family!

At best, we probably will not hit Chicago until early next week. It has been below freezing for the past three days, the roads are impassable, you can guess the rest So, we are trying to take it easy and make our own fun. We just returned from breaking water troughs (frozen over) so the cattle could drink. We almost got stuck several times, the pickup spinning out on the frozen ground (read: tundra). Oh, the excitement of almost being stranded in the pasture; luckily we were not too far from home if one had to walk.

As for me, I am filling out job applications, updating my resume, fashioning cover letters, playing with Max patches, trying to get Ardour up and running, drinking beer, eating, drinking beer . . . you get the idea -- avoiding the out of doors . . . it is cold out there!

If anyone out there has any idea about what might be going on in the Chicago laptop performance scene, please let me know. I am anxious to hit the ground running when we arrive.
